Seattle Symphony plays "Baby Got Back"

True story: when I was a kid, I wasn't allowed to touch my mom's CD player. CD players were a new technology at the time, and rather expensive, and my mother threatened me with extreme bodily harm if I broke it.

One day, I sneaked a peek at the CD player. I hit the "open" button, and the tray slid out. The CD in the tray was Sir Mix-A-Lot's "Baby Got Back." My mother, who is country to the core, apparently had heard "Baby Got Back" and thought it was the greatest thing ever, and bought the CD single. She was apparently jamming out to it in secret when no one else was home. At least, it was a secret, until I found it and burst into uncontrollable laughter.  I was 9 years old, and discovering that my mom secretly loved Sir Mix-A-Lot was the funniest thing I could imagine.

Sir Mix-A-Lot recently made a trip to Seattle, where he performed his best-known song with the Seattle Symphony! Yes, there is a real orchestra behind him, and lots of excited, presumably ample-bottomed ladies took to the stage to dance along to the performance. It's pretty awesome. Maybe if symphonies did stuff like this more often, more people would go to the symphony!
